Dear Residents, Families and Staff of WEL Doylestown,
Thank you so much for your kindness and support as I transitioned to the Executive Director role here at Doylestown. I have enjoyed meeting many of you over the last few weeks. Many thanks and congratulations to Amanda and the Dining Team on the successful reopening of the Dining Room on October 5th. I was able to spend many evenings chatting with residents at their tables and the space, the food and the service received rave reviews! WEL Doylestown now has many options for resident dining – Eat in or Take Out at the Bistro, Eat in or Take out at the Main Dining Room, and Room Delivery for a fee. The Personal Care Dining Room on the 2nd Floor is open for all three meals and a plan is in process for the re-opening of the Skilled Nursing Dining Room in the near future. Please be reminded, if you opt for Take Out, these meals are to be eaten in your apartment, not in the dining room or the Bistro.
Thanks to Nancy and the Housekeeping team for the great job they did on the heavy cleaning of all of the Laundry Rooms and for the new laundry baskets. It’s never fun to do laundry, but in a clean space with the right tools it makes all of the difference.
Welcome to Mike Rohrbach, our new Director of Facilities! Mike is responsible for Maintenance, Housekeeping and Security. Mike is here full time at Doylestown as of September 28th, but will be out for about a week in the near future as he is expecting his 2nd child any minute!
Most of our construction work is complete here at Doylestown although as with any large scale project a few punch list items remain. Our liquor license is pending and we are hopeful to have it by year’s end.
You will see some outdoor work in late November, including removal of some dead trees on the property and the removal of the large Maple outside of the lobby. This Maple is leaning and the roots have caused the pavers to uplift creating a risk for residents, staff and visitors. This decision was not made lightly but because of the safety hazard, it must be removed. We will repair the paver patio and will make it a usable, beautiful space again for residents.
COVID 19 continues to be a risk to our external and internal community. Bucks County is currently in a Green Phase at a 3% positivity rate, but if it moves to 5%, the county moves to a Yellow Phase. WEL Doylestown is closely monitoring what is happening in Bucks County and on our Campus. Our goal is to keep our residents and our staff as safe as possible. As such, everyone must wear a mask at all times in common areas; the only exception is while seated and eating at a table in a dining venue. If you move from the dining table, you must again wear the mask. We know that social distancing, wearing a mask, and handwashing are critical in helping to prevent the spread of COVID 19 as well as the flu. Please know I have asked the staff to remind residents to wear their masks and to wear them correctly over the nose and mouth. I ask that you respond respectfully to their requests; they too are concerned for their health and safety and that of their families. Choosing not to wear a mask during this pandemic violates the health and safety of others in our WEL Doylestown Community and will be considered in violation of WEL resident contract. As part of infection control, also please remember the importance of getting your flu shot this year. This is not only important for residents and staff, but visitors to WEL should also have the flu vaccine to support protecting our campus.
Family and friends are currently welcome at WEL Doylestown. For visitors to Skilled Nursing or Personal Care, we ask that visits be scheduled through the receptionist or by using our Sign Up Genius. For visitors to Independent Living, we ask that no more than 2 guests check in at the front desk to be screened and then proceed to the apartment; no visiting in common areas. You may order Take Out from the Bistro to enjoy with your guest(s) in your apartment. All guests are expected to abide by the WEL policies of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene. There are no overnight visits at this time and visitors are asked to leave by 8pm.
Our calendar of events continues to expand and I hope you take some time to do the things you love and the time to try something new. Take care of yourself and each other. Please remember to reach out to residents who moved in this year; it must be especially difficult for them to meet people with everyone wearing a mask and to become familiar with the WEL Doylestown culture and routines post Construction and COVID. I am sure they would appreciate your reaching out to them to lend a hand.
I am very grateful to be here with you at Doylestown. I am surrounded by wonderful residents and staff and a beautiful campus both inside and out.
It is a joy to come to work each day.
Best regards,
Maureen
