IDA

The week was consumed by reports of storm damage in the 5 county region and beyond.  The remnants of hurricane Ida, that ravaged Louisiana, brought heavy rain and tornadoes to our area.  Estimates for amount of rain are between 5-8 inches Wednesday evening into Thursday.  My feeling is that the three detention basins on our property, designed to handle misbehaving storm water, worked well.  Still, we experienced some minor flooding in several resident rooms, an office and the corridors on the Skilled Nursing floor and at several outdoor entries. Electric service was out for an hour and a number of electronic systems needed attention.   Management thereof was handled beautifully and effectively by staff persons.

Deserving special mention are: Ron R., Margie A., James B. [security, maintenance, housekeeping]; Jared S. [dining];  Sandra T., Jeannette R., Beth F., Agnes C., Adelina T., Arlind S., Lindita S., Alia E., Destiny S. [nursing].  Fearing that I might leave someone out there are always a host of persons who reach out, extend and stay late to help with emergencies.   My and our thanks to all these and more – Kudos as well.

Ribbon Cutting – 40 years

This coming Thursday, we have planned a ribbon cutting ceremony.  We are finally able to have an event to celebrate the completion of the building reposition and décor of the first floor and every floor’s central lounge.   Actually completed in August of 2020, pandemic has prevented a proper inauguration of the common areas.  So on hand will be representatives from the architectural and construction companies to receive our thanks, as well as borough, county and state dignitaries who will help us celebrate.  Furthermore, it so happens that 40 years ago, in October, our Doylestown building opened to residents.  So, we’ll provide a short history and hear from an expected participant, The Rev. Bruce Lenich, Executive Director from 1985 to 2000.

Because of space limitations, we ask residents to remain in your apartment and watch the ceremony on channel 1970, from 1pm until it concludes with a ribbon cutting.  And then, if you signed up, proceed to the first floor to celebrate with fellow residents and staff members.

Billing Coordinator

Every month or so, everyone of us pays a bill or two or more. Wesley Enhanced Living Doylestown is part of that cycle.  It is a kind of a fact of life that sometimes feels unpleasant…BUT…the good news it assures our continuing operation. So, we are eternally grateful.

Someone who helps this process along is the Billing Coordinator, who has an office in the Administration Suite across from Heritage Hall.  With thanks for the many years of service provided by Phyllis Grant, we welcome to that post Carol Gomeringer.   Her contact information will be the same for the office: 267-895-1136 and email is cgomeringer@wel.org. Carol has good experience in the medical field, long term care and acute care settings. Take a moment to welcome Carol.  She’s here to assist.

Covid-19 – no dining visitors for now

The unfortunate reality is that the pandemic is gradually worsening.   Bucks County positivity infection rate is 7.3%.

The Leadership Team, in struggling with concerns about vaccination and masking, determined that we are now closed to visitors and family members for mealtime in dining areas [effective Tuesday].   Visitors to apartments and nursing rooms is permitted but visitors are always required to wear masks.
