The most recent positivity rate in Delaware County is 0.8%. The most recent vaccination percentage for our staff as reported to CMS was 88.2%, up from 79% last week. Pennsylvania reports an average vaccinated percentage of 57% for staff. We continue to offer the vaccine onsite to staff, residents, and resident’s families monthly, but quite honestly, the vaccine is now available at will anywhere in the Delaware Valley.
The most pressing issue right now is the potential of the Delta variant of the Covid virus. Those who have kept up with the news on the virus will note that this variant is becoming more prevalent across the world and has been shown to be more contagious and more severe to those that are unvaccinated. The prevailing guidance is to continue to wear masks due to the higher contagiousness of this variant. Even though we have relaxed some of our guidelines, I would continue to ask everyone to wear your mask when moving around the community. It is a small gesture and provides more protection to yourself and your neighbors.
