Late yesterday, we learned that an independent resident has tested positive for the virus and that another resident will be tested.  Both of these individuals are hospitalized at this writing. These would be the first confirmed cases in the apartment community.

As a result, we are taking further precautions.  We have closed the 9th floor to residents (including the 9th floor elevator), ask that residents not use any common area and remain in your apartments.  Residents may visit the US mailbox once per day and if fresh air is needed, take a walk outside.  We request that families limit deliveries to only essential items that are priority for a resident.  ALL are reminded to wash hands frequently, wear a mask anytime outside an apartment (making sure that the nose is covered) and maintain at least a 6’ distance from ANY other person.

Furthermore, the housekeeping schedule has again been curtailed so that housekeepers may concentrate on sanitizing common touch surfaces.   Urgent cleaning needs will be addressed and residents may request service by calling receptionist to file a work order.

The Skilled Nursing Center how has eleven active cases of the virus (fewer than last reported), five of whom are in hospital.  We are happy to report that we have had three persons come off isolation which we interpret as recovering from the virus.

Of note is the May program calendar, to be delivered to residents on Wednesday.  Please watch in-house TV channel 1970 for program information, pay attention to automated phone calls or contact the receptionist for answers to questions.

Please also feel free to contact us by email or phone if you have questions. The hope is that these measures will be for a limited time, but are designed to take maximum precautions for residents as well as employee protection.

Thank you again, all, for the high degree of cooperation displayed to date.  The measures have been severe and difficult for all:  family, employees and residents alike.

So, here’s to all of you.
