Dear Residents, Families and Employees:

COVID:

I am happy to share that we have had no new positive COVID-19 cases this past week.  We will continue to test staff weekly and health center and personal care residents monthly.

CHANGES:

The “outside” world is experiencing relaxed mandates related to large group gatherings, the wearing of masks, and social distancing.  Our world, in a Continuing Care Retirement Community does not have a green light to relax these requirements.  The fact is that nothing, with the exception of visiting, has changed or relaxed.  Residents, visitors and staff must continue to wear masks in all public areas, indoors and outdoors, regardless of their vaccination status.  Both nationally and statewide, we have yet to achieve the herd community threshold of 70 per cent.    We continue to educate staff and residents regarding the COVID vaccination, and we will continue to host small vaccination clinics.

Although the requirements are relaxing, they pertain to people who are fully vaccinated.  If you are not fully vaccinated, you must still follow the masking guidelines.  If you or your family member are still not vaccinated, there are so many compelling reasons to receive the COVID vaccine.  We are able to provide the COVID vaccine, and you can choose the product you would like to be vaccinated with.  We will arrange for staff and residents to receive the vaccine through an internal vaccination clinic with our pharmacy partner, Friendship Pharmacy.  For anyone who chooses to register to receive your vaccine through our pharmacy, the link is as follows:

MEETING:

There will be a Town Hall meeting regarding Dining Services on Wednesday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall.  Please arrange your time so you can attend this important meeting and discussion.

VISITS:

As a reminder, everyone must use Sign-Up Genius to register to visit with a resident at any level of care.  The visitor registration closes approximately 24 hours prior to the date of the visit, so you will not be able to register at the last minute.  Please call the receptionist to confirm that your visit will be allowed.

For residents who live in the health center, only two visitors at a time please.  There are multiple slots to enter, but they are intended to be one visiting slot per resident.  No visits may occur in the health center, unless they are reviewed and approved by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.

For personal care residents, visits may occur in your apartment.  Independent residents may also receive visitors in your apartment.

Please use Sign-Up genius to register for visits.  You must enter the code #8401 when cued to do so.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at the email address slachman@wel.org or by phone.

Stay well,
