Dear Residents, Families and Staff,
I hope you are well, safe and warm with all of this snow and ice! Things at WEL Doylestown have been busy and exciting. Love was in the air this past weekend as we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening, a lovely brunch on Sunday and we enjoyed Valentine’s Parties in all areas. Congratulations to Amanda, Matt and the dining team for two delicious events! Cupid also delivered gifts of warm fuzzy socks and candy to all residents. The way to the heart is through the feet and the stomach for sure!
VACCINATION CLINIC
This coming weekend on Saturday February 20th we will be hosting another
COVID 19 Vaccination Clinic. We will be offering 2nd vaccines to those who received their first on Saturday January 20, 2021. For those residents and staff who were unable to receive the vaccine on January 20th, you will have an opportunity to get your first shot on February 20th and your second shot on March 10th. Residents can contact Karen Doler to schedule by calling the main number 215-345-4300 or e-mail kdoler@wel.org. Staff can contact Kelly Herman.
Karen Doler and Marcy Farbotnik will be assisting residents residing in Independent Living floors 4 thru 8 Wednesday 2/17 and Thursday 2/18 to help residents prepare the consent forms in advance. Kathy Pinzka and her team will be assisting residents residing in Personal Care.

EMERGENCY CALL SYSTEM
Mike Rohrbach, Director of Facilities, has been working with our electrical contractors and the wiring for our new emergency call system is almost complete. This wiring will not only bring power to our emergency call system but also enables it to run from generator power during a power failure. The wiring also ensures that we have a small number of generator powered outlets on each of the Personal Care and Independent Living floors. The Skilled Nursing residence already has generator powered outlets. The repeaters (units in the ceiling which enable the emergency calls to travel to the staff) will be installed after the wiring is complete. These repeaters will be in all areas of the building as well as outside to cover our campus. Once the repeaters have been tested, the Emergency Pendants will be distributed to all residents residing under a Personal Care or Independent Living contract. The final step is that the building will be mapped so that when a resident alerts the emergency system, we can find them within a few feet of their actual location whereas the current system only alerts to the residents’ apartments. The “Go Live” for the new system will be in a few weeks.
COVID 19 Policies
After Saturday February 20, 2021, the large majority of our residents and staff will have been vaccinated. Following the guidance of our Medical Director, we will allow 2 weeks for all who received the 2nd vaccine to reach peak immunity.
On March 6, 2021 it is our intention to:
- Open to visitors for IL or PC apartment visits; 2 guest maximum
- No longer require quarantine for residents returning from an inpatient hospital or rehabilitation stay
- No longer require quarantine after social visits with family and friends
The Bucks County Positivity Rate is 9.6% so COVID is still present in our surrounding community. If you have symptoms of COVID 19, or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 and you have not been fully vaccinated, please refrain from visiting WEL Doylestown. We currently have no positive cases in residents nor staff at WEL Doylestown.
We appreciate your ongoing partnership and patience as we move slowly and steadily to re-open. We look forward to seeing family and friends soon!
Warm regards,
Maureen
