Dear Residents, Families and Employees:

We will begin administering flu vaccines in the next few weeks for all health center and personal care residents.  Flu vaccines will be administered with written permission and a physician’s order.  The vaccine will be the quadrivalent high-dose vaccine licensed for use in adults 65 years and older.

Independent residents who are patients of the in-house physician, Dr. Farooq, will be receiving their flu vaccines via her office at WEL Pennypack Park.  If you are not a patient of Dr. Farooq’s, you will need to obtain your flu vaccine from your attending physician, or another location such as CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreen’s, etc.

Indoor dining is coming.  The dining staff has the table layout design, there will be sneeze guards on every table – that must remain in place during dinner without exception.  We will also be mapping out the seating arrangements.  Seating will be limited to four (4) to a table, again there will be no exceptions to exceed this capacity.  We will be requiring residents to sit at the same table, with the same group every evening, and that group be assigned.  This will be your “family” for dining.  There will be more to come on this subject, including the date we will be re-opening the Fireside Dining Room.

Included is a copy of a notice received from Governor Wolf’s office regarding possible scams related to contact tracing.  Please read through this memo and be very cautious if anyone initiates contact with you and asks for any of the following information, not only related to COVID-19.

  • Your social security number, financial or bank account information, or personal details unrelated to your potential exposure to someone with COVID-19;
  • Personal information through SMS/text message or send you to any website link asking for personal information;
  • Photographs or videos of any kind;
  • Passwords; or
  • Money or payment.

We have begun setting up appointments to visit health center and personal care for late September.  These visits will be happening as long as there are no new cases of COVID-19.  I want to remind independent residents that no visitors, companions, etc. are permitted in the apartments.
