Dear Residents, Families and Employees:

Testing is completed with a total of 297 people.  This total is comprised of all employees, all health center and all personal care residents who did not test positive in the past or were never tested or  tested prior May 24, as ordered by the Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  We have received a second positive result related to an employee who has not worked since late June, therefore, no risk to any residents or other staff members; 295 tests were negative.

The number of new COVID-19 positive cases in Philadelphia continues to increase, and based on an update to health care providers on July 21, there is a suggestion from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health that the city may revert to a red phase if the numbers do not begin to decrease.  If numbers decrease, it is our plan to begin visiting for personal care and health center residents in mid-August, tentatively August 10.  Allowing us approximately two weeks to assess the effectiveness of our visitation plan, we would anticipate that visitors for independent residents would begin in the latter part of August.  What is not clear is where those visits will take place, but we do not anticipate that visits will take place in a public area, as well.

Please do not call the front desk at this time to make your appointment to visit.  I will let you know when we open that calendar.

We received an update from the PA DOH dated June 20 and it includes that visitors, when signing in must provide contact information.  We will be requesting full name, full address and current telephone number for every visitor.  It will also be imperative that visitors sign out when leaving the community.

Beginning Tuesday, July 28, our salon will begin appointments for our health center and personal care residents.  Bonny will be setting the appointments and as discussed in a prior e-mail regarding opening the salon, there will be very strict parameters for limited “customers” in the salon at a time (not more than two) and sanitizing of equipment between residents.  Hopefully getting to the salon will help boost spirits in our ladies and gentleman who would like a haircut.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions or concerns.  You can send me an email directly at the address herein.
