COVID

Bucks County published a covid positivity rate today of 1.5%  which shows the continuing, agreeable impact of widespread vaccination. 

The management of the one positive case in our apartment section has involved quarantine for the fully vaccinated individual and spouse which is reaching its end early next week.  You may be interested to know that we work closely with Doylestown Hospital in these matters and are also in regular conversation with the County Health Department.  Representatives reach out to us to check on our procedures, their interest being to help us make sure we do not sustain an outbreak in this building and in the wider community.  This is the role of public health officials.

SKILLED NURSING VISTATION

A decision was made yesterday to suspend visitation of Nursing Center residents over this weekend.  There has been a preponderance of upper respiratory infections.  Fortunately, all have tested negative for the corona virus, flu and pneumonia.  But because we want to avoid any spread of cold-like symptoms and observe an abundance of caution, we’re asking for your cooperation to postpone a visit of a resident until next week. 

PA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

You’ll recall that annually, the state reviews the nursing center’s operation related to clinical matters [which, as mentioned, found NO deficiencies this year, when reviewers were here May 27th].   It is also standard every year that we are visited by the health department’s Life Safety Division.  These inspectors pay attention to our fire safety arrangements and were here yesterday.  We do have several things we need to correct.  Also, for several years we’ve been working on an update of our Emergency Preparedness manual, which will be completed in the near future.  Fire safety and emergency preparedness are among our highest priorities. 

TOWN HALL & DINING

A week from Monday [June 14], the June Town Hall will take place as an in-person AND broadcast event.  We plan to feature the dining team leaders who will present extensive information about the program, some immediate changes to be made and the prospect of getting to full use of all venues for culinary experience.
