In the next step to our moving to our new pendant system, we are now going to move towards adjusting our system for checking in daily. As a reminder, we have 2 check in systems here at WEL Main Line. We will be ending one of these systems and continuing with the other. We are ending the use of the ‘I’m ok’ button and we will be using the dinner attendance as our check in system.
For a review, the dinner attendance system is related to the routine of either coming down for dinner in person, calling down for delivery, or calling down to let them know you were not coming down for dinner that evening. The list is compiled of those who haven’t done one of those 3 and we check on those who have not done one of those 3 tasks. We do have a few residents that have opted out of the request to call down daily to dining and we will reach out to those to engage them in a system to contact our security systems, either through dining or the concierge desk. The significant majority of our Independent Living residents do use dining services close to daily. As a reminder, dining extension is #207.
With the change to pendants for all of our residents, we are providing a device that should be with the resident at all times, so if there is a personal emergent need, there is more of an ability to contact our security and wellness staff in real time. The system being replaced did require you to be able to reach a pull cord, as opposed to a personal pendant on your person. The use of this pendant is strongly encouraged by myself and our wellness staff. We have already had some pendant calls to date.
We will begin to remove the old devices from the apartments in the next few weeks. We will also update the resident handbook to reflect the change as well.
