Another successful COVID-19 vaccination clinic has come to an end at WEL Doylestown. Thanks to CVS, our amazing team and all of our very compliant residents, we were able to finish early!

Please see the reverse side of this letter for a reminder of what to expect after receiving the vaccine today. Occasionally, some people who did not experience side effects after the first vaccination, do experience side effects after the second dose, or the side effects are a bit stronger.

Some mild discomfort, fever, chills, fatigue, headache and/or stomach upset can be expected post vaccination. If you feel you are having a more severe reaction, please use your pull cord to notify security or call 911.

Completed COVID-19 Record Cards will be distributed later this week for everyone who received a 2nd dose today. For those who received a first dose today, the second dose will be given on Saturday March 13th. Save the date!

Reminder, on March 6, 2021 it is our intention to:

  1. Open to visitors for IL or PC apartment visits; 2 guest maximum
  2. No longer require quarantine for residents returning from an inpatient hospital or rehabilitation stay
  3. No longer require quarantine after social visits with family and friends
We will be sharing information for skilled nursing in the near future; as you know, regulations for this area are more stringent and we are developing plans based on regulatory guidance.
The Bucks County Positivity Rate is 8.4%. We’re moving in the right direction but COVID is still present in our surrounding community. If you have symptoms of COVID 19, or have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 and you have not been fully vaccinated, please refrain from visiting WEL Doylestown. We currently have no positive cases in residents nor staff at WEL Doylestown.
Have a great rest of your weekend!

What to Expect after Getting a COVID-19 Vaccine Updated Feb 17, 2021 www.cdc.org
COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you from getting COVID-19. You may have some side effects, which are normal signs that your body is building protection. These side effects may feel like flu and may even affect your ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a few days.
Common side effects
• Pain and/or swelling on the arm where you got the shot
• Fever
• Chills
• Tiredness
• Headache
Helpful tips
If you have pain or discomfort, talk to your doctor about taking an over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
To reduce pain/discomfort where you got the shot and reduce discomfort from fever:
• Apply a clean, cool, wet washcloth over the area.
• Use or exercise your arm.
• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Dress lightly.
When to call the doctor: In most cases, discomfort from fever or pain is normal.
Contact your doctor or healthcare provider:
• If the redness or tenderness where you got the shot increases after 24 hours
• If your side effects are worrying you or do not seem to be going away after a few days
Remember
• Side effects may feel like flu and even affect your ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a few days.
• With most COVID-19 vaccines, you will need 2 shots in order for them to work. Get the second shot even if you have side effects after the first shot, unless a vaccination provider or your doctor tells you not to get a second shot.
• It takes time for your body to build protection after any vaccination. COVID-19 vaccines that require 2 shots may not protect you until a week or two after your second shot. Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others, stay at least 6 feet from others, avoid crowds and wash your hands often.
