I am sorry to inform you all that we have had our first positive resident Covid test over the weekend in our Meadows unit. Please keep the resident in your thoughts and prayers. Thankfully they have not shown significant symptoms at this point and we are hopeful that this continues. This particular resident was recently admitted from the hospital and as with all newly admitted residents, was on a 14 day quarantine meaning they had no interaction with any other residents. The quarantine obviously continues as do the enhanced infection control measures we take with all residents in quarantine. Based on the timing of their hospitalization and the positive test, it is assumed they came to us already infected and just recently showed mild symptoms prompting the test.
There is no expectation on our part of this positive test growing into a larger outbreak, but the prevailing issue is that this virus is still very active in our community. The area hospitals are still quite full and are fighting to keep their heads above water. Please continue to maintain your vigilance and safe practices while we wait for the mitigation of this outbreak. We are one week away from our scheduled first vaccine clinic which will help drive the positivity rate down eventually. My hope is that we soon hear of expanded vaccine availability to build towards safer circumstances. Again, please keep this resident and all of those suffering from this virus in your thoughts and prayers.
